Balfour Apartments fitout

This project required careful consideration in terms of creating warmth, privacy and texture, whilst not encroaching on the spectacular city views. For the living area I chose sheer curtains on a cord drawn track, which were ceiling mounted to enhance the room's height.

Kitchener Street Apartment fitout

I designed these stunning floor to ceiling 'waterfall curtains' using luxurious crushed velvet with a finely detailed 'ripple' insert. They are intricately crafted yet beautifully understated, resulting in a lightness of mood and a subtle suggestion of movement. A 'piéce de résistance' said the client.

Princes Wharf Apartment fitout

This luxuriously appointed penthouse apartment in central Auckland demanded a dramatic approach.  For the living and dining areas I chose an elegant combination of sheer and silk curtains, which were double-tracked from a custom sculptured pelmet in anodised aluminium. For the master bedroom I created striking floor-to-ceiling gold silk curtains, complemented with a matching panelled bedspread and bespoke leather cushions.

Freemans Bay residential fitout

The client’s vision on this new build was to make the house look like it had been there a long time and the use of white painted bricks and timber flooring helped achieve this.

The white linen curtains throughout the house were kept in the background, with the wallpapers carrying the spaces and making big statements.

On the landing, we used  old English chenille draught stoppers, which we added antique French gold metal braid to, sourced by the client.  In the bedroom we used French flour mill bags and created all the bedding.

Structurally, all the headings in the curtains were loose and relaxed. Rods were washed with an antique brushed finish.

The objective of this project was to bring in texture and colour with the fabrics chosen for the bedding, throws, upholstery and cushions.

Herne Bay residential fitout

For this whole-house project I purposefully created a continuity of tone, yet each space has its own unique feel.

PIC 1: Blackout curtains were imperative in the brief from the client. I chose a gorgeous, creamy, lightweight linen fabric with a blackout lining then top fixed the curtains to a ceiling track. Unlined roman blinds and sheer curtains were added for daytime privacy.

PIC 2: A sheer curtain on a ceiling track, backed by blinds.

PICS 3-6: Unlined linen roman blinds, in some instances featuring exterior louvres.

Takapuna residential fitout

This was a whole-house project requiring each room and living space to be considered individually.

PIC 1: A bold (and practical) roman blind to complement the classic child's room.

PIC 2: A fabulous full-length curtain on a silver rod with glides.

PIC 3: Who can resist sumptuous red velvet for opulence, warmth and texture.

PIC 4: Elegant cream glazed linen curtains with forward pleat.

PIC 5: Slimline Duette blind, diffusing light and creating privacy while taking up minimal space.

Devonport residential fitout

Here I was able to ensure that the built-in bay window seat took centre stage with its luxuriously piped upholstery and stunning selection of cushions in complimentary fabrics.  Classic wooden venetians form an elegant backdrop. In the children's room, I chose a cheerful floral fabric (generously proportioned) and custom-designed a special pelmet to fit the challenging space.

Muriwai Beach residential fitout

For this spectacular cliff-top home overlooking the ocean, I chose an elegant floor-to-ceiling lined curtain with wave heading (requiring less fabric but still commanding a luxurious, stylish look) on a 25mm rod with glides. The cushions are designed by Suki Cheema.

Omaha Beach residential fitout

Window treatments should enhance, but never obstruct the view. So for this beautiful beachside residence, with its dramatic high stud living areas, I chose sheer lined curtains (on a double track) to subtly reflect the environment.

Befitting the client (the very clever jewellery designer, Joss Hong), I was able to give this studio space a beautifully creative, oriental feel, with gorgeous Japanese silk curtains (see PIC 2) and complimentary wallpaper (out of view). The bonded roller blind (PIC 1) achieved the objective of using minimum wall space, while adding visual appeal, texture and privacy.

Narrowneck residential fitout

A lovely sun-drenched home with large window spaces that required careful consideration in terms of manipulating light.

PIC 1: Sheer curtains by day, Italian linen by night.

Muriwai Beach residential fitout 3

My clients had recently travelled to Morocco and returned home wanting to bring some of the opulence and rich use of colour into their own living environment. The window treatments I chose here utilise individual panels of complimentary fabrics, working together to create a soft filtered light.

Herne Bay residential fitout 2

For this project I worked alongside an interior designer, and I was responsible for the production and installation (not, in this case, the fabric selection) of the window treatments.

PIC 1: Shot velvet curtains on an elegant embossed rod.

PIC 2: A new take on sheer curtains for the bathroom.

PIC 3: Roman blinds featuring vibrant velvet with border detail.

Commercial: Queenies Tearooms

One of Auckland's most popular eating spots; I created the (suitably regal!) curtains, cushions and banquette.

Tasked with fitting out the boardroom at this stylish inner city advertising agency, I chose a dramatic reversible curtains in luxe velvet.

PIC 1: Matakana Cinema - I love this space, with its lush, textural feel and decorative ceiling featuring interwoven fabric inspired by the kete.

PIC 2: Chandelier Restaurant - these curtains offer over the top opulence at the entranceway to one of Ponsonby's more upmarket establishments.
